Kingston is a breath taking 45 minute drive from Queenstown via State Highway 6. The winding drive meanders past the foot of The Remarkables and the Hector Mountains while following Lake Wakatipu to its eastern edge. The turnoff is easily spotted from the main highway, simply follow the main road (Kent Street) all the way to the Kingston Flyer Cafe & Bar where our friendly train staff will be waiting to greet you. Free parking is available outside the cafe located near the Kingston Foreshore.
Fairlight Railway Station is located on the corner of SH6 and Cainard Road in Southland and is accessible via vehicle approx 7 minutes drive from Kingston down South Highway 6. The station is open to train passengers only for 20 minutes while the engine is turned around and is closed to the general public. At Fairlight Station you can watch the train arrive and take photos, however if you are not a passenger, for safety reasons, please remain in the carpark and keep off the tracks.
