Ab795 is back in full steam!
The mighty Ab795 Steam Locomotive has been fully restored and is now back at work! Ab795 was built at the Hillside Railway workshop in Dunedin for NZ Government Railways (NZR) in 1927. It was converted from a WAB class 4-6-4T to a tank version of the AB, and is the only remaining AB in New Zealand that was designated to pull New Zealand's Royal Train. Ab795 runs regular passenger services as the Kingston Flyer, pulling four 100-year-old renovated wooden carriages, including the one of a kind 'Birdcage' gallery coach.
